Pre-Orientation Volunteer Experience in Service

PrOVES is a program focused on helping incoming first-year students make the transition from high school to college. Through direct service and social justice education, our mission is to help participants develop an on-campus support system based in service to others and commitment to community.

Our goals are:

  • To facilitate the transition from high school to UNH
  • To help participants become part of a community on campus
  • To develop participants’ sense of civic responsibility
  • To meet community needs off-campus

PrOVES History

PrOVES began in 2001, with about 20 incoming students participating in a week of service projects. 22 years later, PrOVES is one of the top-ranked student orientation programs nationally!

Service Projects

Each student will have the opportunity to volunteer with 3 community organizations over the course of the week. Click here to learn more about some of our community partners!

Mentors

PrOVES is run by 15 students who are alumni of the PrOVES program. Every "PrOVER" is assigned a member of the student staff as their mentor for the fall. Their mentor will be able to help the PrOVER navigate campus resources and will be a support system for the new student.
